Pasta to cure the Blah

Writer's picture: RecreationCentralRecreationCentral

We all have 'Blah' days. Its not just me and I refuse to believe anything against that.

Blah days are just that...Days where you wake up and feel...BLAH

No real explanation as to how you feel, why you feel this way or how to fix it. That was today. I woke up, watched several episodes of my show, crocheted a bit and then I just looked around and didn't want to do anything.

The dishes needed to be done. The bathroom could have benefitted from a little TLC, my art table was looking neglected...But I didn't want to do a single thing. Not even BLOG this morning!! GASP.

But I found myself washing a few pots and pans and starting dinner early. And within 5 minutes of starting to cook dinner, I felt 100 times better.

It really is remarkable how quickly we can turn ourselves around with such a simple task. I spent 5 minutes gathering my ingredients and getting the pot of water boiling and my spirits were lifted.

Now I can't be 100% sure it was the ACT to cooking or WHAT I was cooking that brought me out of my funk...

PASTA <3

Pasta is the love of my life. My whole heart and soul. So I can't honestly tell you that it wasn't just the idea of pasta for dinner that lifted my spirits. But for the sake of this post let's say it was the Act of cooking...

I think we underestimate how a simple task can drastically change the events and emotional responses we have in a day. It is so important to find alternative activities and tasks that can benefit our emotional wellbeing.

Think about all of the times you might have felt BLAH and how you got out of your little funk. Was it going for a walk? Taking a shower? Cleaning your room? (LOL my mom would dream that this was my de-blah-er) Cooking dinner? Playing a sport? Creating art?

Whatever makes your heart happy or un-blah for just a few moments. Write them down or have something ready to go at a moment's notice. Make yourself an Emergency Blah Kit to have ready and available for when you need it.

With the weather getting colder and the days getting shorter and darker, seasonal depression will be making an appearance. Make sure you are setting yourself up for success. Get yourself all the things you need to bring yourself up. Reach out to friends and family and make plans in advance to have something to look forward to. A motivational tool to get you through the cold months ahead.

"Winter is Coming" .....Get the pasta ready!

Welcome Back...

It feels like a lifetime ago that I started this website, made an attempt at a blogging career or even spent time working on my own...

I have SO MANY EMOTIONS

I have to start off with the forever repetitious "I'm sorry I haven't posted in forever. Blah Blah Blah".... Okay. So now that I got that...

New Normal

So I have started this post about 7-8 times and every time I have deleted it. I just can't find the words to express myself. But I think...
